Dear AOBA Members,
Please see below Col REME’s message to us all:
The REME Family,
You will, no doubt, all be feeling a deep sense of loss and sadness after the announcement of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our late sovereign and our late Commander-in-Chief.
I write to you, the REME Family, to remind you to be proud of the service you gave during her steadfast and unprecedented reign and to take time to remember Her Majesty’s lifetime of dedicated, selfless and loyal service to our Army, our Nation and all nations of the Commonwealth.
63 members of our Corps, from 8 Training Battalion REME, are honoured to be lining a small part of the Procession route for Her Majesty’s State Funeral. At this incredibly important moment in our nation’s history, I have every confidence that they will do their duty to the highest professional standards as the nation mourns.
You should also know that I have written to our Colonel-in-Chief, HRH The Countess of Wessex to express the Corps’ sincere and heartfelt condolences to her and The Royal Family at this difficult time.
All that I ask of you now, is that you comfort each other and support your loved ones as we together come to terms with Her Majesty’s passing.
God save The King.
Geordie Wright-Rivers
Chairman AOBA
