Very interesting information regarding NI Credits for military wives!
This is a letter published in the Daily Telegraph recently kindly provided by Ken Anderson.
Two days after applying for my state pension, I saw your article headed “Military wives missing out on pension rights” (December 6).
I spent nine years overseas with my husband on military service. Nobody ever informed me, or him, of any entitlement to National Insurance credit for those years.
After several calls to the Department of Work and Pensions and to HMRC, I finally found somebody who knew about this scheme. Credits I receive should now give me enough to cover the 35 years of contributions I need for a full state pension.
I am spreading the word to as many people as I can who have spent time with spouses overseas. We are all most grateful to your newspaper for making us aware of this scheme, but feel let down to have only discovered its existence by chance.
